In textile processes, coloured effluent generated is high in pollutants such as dissolved solids, color imparted by dyes & suspended solids. Effluent is treated by conventional treatment to remove these impurities. The effluent contains TSS, color, BOD and COD which is not acceptable for recycling in process application.

Dyes are colored organic compounds that are used to impart color to various substrates in textile materials. The discharges of industrial wastewater containing dyes cause serious environmental problems.

Existing conventional methods feed the entire effluent load on Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and hence incur huge capital and operational costs for waste management systems.

INDION Electro-Coagulation (EC) is utilized to remove impurities such as COD, colour (imparted by dyes), BOD & TSS prior to recycling. Water treatment process reduces load on Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) & results in saving of ETP cost.

The INDION Electro-Coagulation (EC) system is compact and occupies less space. Sludge formed by INDION EC tends to be readily settable and easy to de-water, compared to conventional alum or ferric hydroxide sludge. This is mainly because of metallic oxides/ hydroxides which do not have residual charge. The INDION EC process has the advantage of removing the smallest colloidal particles, because the applied electric field neutralizes any residual charge, thereby facilitating coagulation.
